Hello dear, the following questionaire is admistered by;
Adagba Gabriel Adi, a post graduate student of Industrial/Production Engineering, Federal University of Technology, (FUTO) Owerri-Nigeria. Working on a Thesis titled; Trade-off between Depreciation and Maintenance in a production line.
Due to the fact that, some establishments discard their production equipment, when they have not served their real values, by adhering to manufacturer's recommendations and others run machines/equipments that are overaged and for which diminishing marginal utility has set in, without realising it, there by getting less than optimal benefits from their production shop-floors. There is a need to strike a balance between the above two extreme situations, that is, a functional machine life need to be established. This life is based on how much the manchine/equipment is used and maintained over time from the reality of production situation in a factory's shop-floor, as considering what provision has been made over time to replace the machine by way of depreciation, and not necessarily the one recommended by the manufacturer. This balance can be stuck by defining and establishing Trade-off points for production machines/equipment.
